Halle Berry has filed papers to reduce the amount of child support she pays to her ex-partner Gabriel Aubry by more than $12,000 a month. The actress, who shares custody of daughter Nahla, six, with model Gabriel, is seeking to cut her monthly payments from around $16,000 to $3,800, TMZ reports.

Halle Berry has filed documents requesting a drop of $12,000 a month in the money she pays to her ex Gabriel Aubry

Gabriel, 39, is claiming that he needs the sum because he was unable to book modelling jobs for six months after an altercation with Halle's husband Olivier Martinez on Thanksgiving in 2012.

But in her court documents, Halle alleges that Gabriel is using the money for his own means, including clothing, electronics and car and health insurance, adding that she feels her former partner is  "perfectly capable" of getting a job. At a hearing earlier this year, Halle, 48, was ordered to make the payments to Gabriel until Nahla turns 19 or graduates from high school.

Halle went on to find love with Olivier Martínez after splitting with the Canadian model

Halle and Gabriel, who never married, split in 2010 after four years together, leading to a lengthy custody battle over Nahla. The Oscar-winner went on to find love with French actor Olivier, and the couple welcomed their son Maceo-Robert in October 2013 – three months after tying the knot. A source close to Olivier told People: "Halle does work hard for her money and it's not easy for her to juggle the two kids with her work schedule. It's understandable that she feels Gabriel should be able to make enough money to support Nahla."
