Ferne McCann defends Gemma Collins over I'm a Celebrity performance

by hellomagazine.com Ferne McCann had kind words for her TOWIE co-star Gemma Collins, who seems to be struggling in the I'm a Celebrity... jungle.

Speaking on This Morning , she said: "She's going to do it. I can't believe she's cracked this soon, but she's definitely not a quitter so I think she will make it the distance.

"She said to me before 'I've just got to get in there, I've just got to do it, I've just got to do the trials'."

Ferne McCann says Gemma Collins is a real softie

The pair have had their disagreements which makes Ferne's defence that much more touching. The brunette beauty told TV hosts Susanna Reid and Ben Shepherd that Gemma is "a real softie".

Ferne said: "She has got a good heart so I'm not surprised she's showing that. I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. What you are seeing is Gemma Collins."

Other friends tweeted support for her. Lauren Goodger posted: "Come on my fellow Essex girl. You can do it."

Meanwhile, another Tracie Giles joked: "Great viewing. I am laughing though as I know what you're like getting your brows tattooed."

Viewers saw the 33-year-old Essex girl have a panic attack as the celebs were taken to the camp by helicoper. She then had a meltdown after being placed in jail-like cell called 'the celebrity slammer'. Along with other jungle inmates, she was forced to sleep on the floor and fed only porridge.

When a friend tried to console her, saying: "It's only a few more days", Gemma responded: "“It’s not though.  It’s three weeks. I’m just not enjoying it one bit. I just don’t want to do it. It’s too hard."

However, Gemma rallied and help make breakfast more exciting by frying balls of porridge to create porridge patties.

When it came to taking a shower – which involved the inmates pouring a bucket of freezing water over each other's head – the blonde showed that she was even more game.

She quipped: "I've never been in a shower that takes so much work, but you’ve got to just roll with it, like Oasis said."
