Lewis Hamilton wins Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with Nicole Scherzinger at his side

by hellomagazine.com

Lewis Hamilton soared to victory at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday, winning his second world championship ever. The Formula One racing driver called the moment the "greatest day" of his life.

As Lewis, 29, clinched the top spot, his family, friends and girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger celebrated the emotional win around him. Clearly overcome with emotion, Nicole embraced Lewis tightly and kissed her star winner on the helmet as crowds whooped and cheered around them.

The former Pussycat Dolls singer had flown in from Zurich to be at her boyfriend's side for his all-important race, and wowed as she made her entrance to the Yas Marina racetrack in a figure-hugging LBD.

Just a day before the final, Nicole had posted an Instagram throwback photo of herself and Lewis enjoying a day out in the park, with the caption: "@lewishamilton we are praying for you for this weekend babe! #f1 #abudhabiGP #Godspeed #kicksomeokole."

Fulfilling his greatest dreams, Lewis took to the podium in the UAE city to accept his new title. "This is the greatest day of my life," he said. The Mercedes AMG racer, who had fist pumped the air as he crossed the finish line, previously won his first championship six years ago.

"2008 was a great year in my life," Lewis went on. "The feeling I have now is way, way past that. It's the greatest feeling ever."

Prince Harry was among those who showed their support and admiration for the British winner.

"Lewis, well done for not making the British public sweat," Harry was heard telling Lewis over the team radio. "You are an absolute legend."

A keen fan of motor racing, the royal had spent Saturday soaking up the track action in the company of Geri Halliwell and her F1 boss fiancé Christian Horner.

As fans paid tribute to Lewis on social media, Naomi Campbell also took to Instagram to praise the athlete. "#CongratulationsBrother @lewishamilton #2014 #Champion #soProud #SoHappy #TeamLH #TeamLewis #F1 #AbuDhabiGP #England YOU DESERVE IT !!!!!" she enthusiastically captioned a photo of herself and Lewis.

Lewis became the fourth Briton to win two world titles. Michael Schumacher, who is said to be paralysed and in a wheelchair following his skiing accident last year, is the all-time world record holder with seven wins.
