In October Cameron Diaz was spotted with a diamond-encrusted ring on her ring finger, sparking rumours that she had become engaged to her beau of eight months, Benji Madden. Now, the actress has now opened up on finding Mr. Right, revealing: "You have to find someone in the same place as you are. Timing is everything.

"If you get into a relationship where you want something the guy doesn't want, it’s never gonna work."

Cameron and Benji confirmed they were an item in June after weeks of speculation, stepping out hand in hand in New York City. Benji, the guitarist for pop punk band Good Charlotte, and Cameron looked happy and relaxed as they headed out together in the city, and weren’t shy about showing their affection for each other.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan, Cameron added: "You’re never going to get him to be in that place. No matter how old you are, finding the guy who’s in the same place as you are and wants to show up is the only way a relationship works, period. "Cameron has had a string of highly public relationships, from Justin Timberlake, Alex Rodriguez, and Puff Daddy, and revealed the wisdom that she has learnt over the years: "Here’s the thing. You make the same mistake over and over again until you learn your lesson."

"We girls sometimes do the thing where we pick the same person over and over again – they look and seem different, but deep down, they’re the same. And that’s on us", she added.

Cameron's latest film, Annie, is a contemporary adaptation of the 1970s musical, the all-singing all-dancing film follows the titular character of Annie, an orphan girl, who lives with the cruel Miss Hannigan, played by Cameron. "It was the most terrifying thing I’ve ever done in a movie. I cried a lot," Cameron said of singing in the new film. "[Miss Hannigan is] bitter because her chance at fame was stolen, and all she can taste is that taste, which is very much in line with this day and age. People determine your value by how many friends you have on Facebook or if you’re Instagram famous."
