Leona Lewis and Lily Allen have broken into the traditionally male world of top Christmas songs this festive season. The pair have appeared on a list of the ten most-played Christmas tunes of the year, created by PPL.
Lily's cover version of Somewhere Only We Know by Keane – which was the official song used in last year's John Lewis advert – soared to second place.
It came after crowd-pleaser Fairytale Of New York by The Pogues triumphed in first place.
Leona's One More Sleep, which was also released last year on the X Factor winner's first Christmas album, ranked ninth.

Both Lily and Leona's hits came as new entries in the chart and marked the first time that two British female artists appeared in the list.
The songs were joined by classics including Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas and Chris Rea's Driving Home For Christmas.
"Christmas songs are as essential to the festive period as mince pies and tinsel," said Mike Dalby, senior music intelligence analyst at PPL – the company that licences recorded music played in public areas such as shops, bars and restaurants.
"The new entries from Lily and Leona show that the sound of Christmas changes every year, even if the classics are ever present. Together, the top 10 got more than the equivalent of a full year of UK airplay in 2013, meaning that it really could be Christmas every day (if you wished it to be...)."
One More Sleep by Leona Lewis ranked ninth
