"I just wanted to be clear and honest about why I will be missing the Unbroken events in the next few days," she said. "Which is that I found out last night that I have chicken pox.
"So I will be home itching and missing everyone, she added. "I can't believe it because this film means so much to me. I can't believe it. But such is life, there it is."
Angelina concluded the video by sending her best wishes to those involved with the film, which stars Jack O'Connell, Domhnall Gleeson, Jai Courtney, Garrett Hedlund and Finn Wittrock, for its showcase.
"Send everyone my love and hope that everything goes well."
Angelina, whose film follows the life of the late Louis Zamperini, an Olympic runner who was taken prisoner by Japanese forces during World War II, also released a statement via Universal.
"You have to laugh at the timing," she said. "I was sure nothing could stop me from supporting Unbroken.
"I am heartbroken to miss our premiere, most of all the chance to be there with Louie’s family, Phil’s daughter Karen, veterans and all the guests who are coming."
