Stephen Belafonte asks fans to stop being negative about Mel B's X Factor appearance

Mel B got a warm welcome on her return to the X Factor after being rushed to hospital, desperately ill on Thursday. A huge cheer went up when the former Spice Girl arrived hand in hand with her fellow judges, wearing a glamorous ruffled cream gown by Giles.

Although the Leeds-born star had clearly made an effort to soldier on as she wasn't quite her normal bubbly self. Mel made a point of thanking hospital staff, saying :"I really missed being here but thanks to all the doctors and nurses who took care of me and got me here tonight. "When host Dermot O'Leary asked if she was better, Mel said: "Yes – ish." It's thought the X Factor judge was treated for a stomach ulcer. During her absence on Saturday night, Tulisa Contoslavlos filled in.

 As Sunday's show went on viewers expressed their concern about her on Twitter. "Her face looks puffy," commented one user. "What is wrong with Mel B?" said another. Another wrote: "Mel B looks like she's about to fold like a deck chair."

Another fan tweeted: "Actually worried about Mel B's wellbeing – she looks really unwell.

Nothing is worth sacrificing one's health for." This was too much for the TV personality's husband Stephen Belafonte. He tweeted: "Mel was very ill a bunch of doctors helped her get better if fans can't just relax B4 being negative they r not real fans of @OfficialMelB."

The couple have been married for seven years and were friends for many years before beginning a relationship. Mel recently told HELLO! magazine that her husband is the centre of her world. Speaking of the moment they took their vows, the 39-year-old  mum-of-three said: "I looked right in his eyes and I knew this this was the one man for the rest of my life. "He's the first man I've ever trusted, he's my rock and he's the beginning and the end of who I am."
