Pierce Brosnan's Malibu home damaged by serious fire

Pierce Brosnan and his family escaped injury when their Malibu home caught fire on Wednesday evening. The blaze started around 9.40pm and lasted for around 30 minutes before firefighters were able to extinguish it. Thankfully no-one was hurt, but an understandably shocked Pierce was photographed talking to the emergency services as they battled the flames. LA County Fire Department’s Michael Pittman told the Daily News that a team of 50 firefighters had been needed to put out the blaze. He also confirmed that the fire was restricted to the garage located on the side of the exclusive Broad Beach Road property.

NBC journalist Kenny Holmes was on the scene and posted pictures of the actor speaking to firefighters. "Heavy smoke & fire last night from the garage of Pierce Brosnan's Malibu home. No injuries. Damage to garage/bedroom," he added. Pierce, 61, shares the large beachside property with his wife of 14-years, Keely Shaye Smith, and their two teenage sons, Dylan and Paris. The James Bond star bought the Malibu home – where his neighbours include Danny DeVito and Dustin Hoffman – back in 2000 for a reported $10million. He and his wife also own a property in Kauai, Hawaii.

Pierce and Keely remain very much in love – and despite the luxuries afforded by his fame, the actor would be quite content for them to have a simple future together. "I say to Keely, 'Let's sell the house and live in a caravan'," he said in an interview last year. "A new start like that would be amazing!" Of his wife he added, "I love her vitality, her passion. She has this strength that I wouldn't be able to live without. When Keely looks at me, I go weak."

The star has two movies scheduled for release this year; thriller Urge, and spy film Survivor, also starring Milla Jovovich and Emma Thompson.
