Kim Kardashian assured fans that she was safe and sound, following a car accident involving her baby daughter North West and her younger siblings Khloé Kardashian and Kylie Jenner. The reality TV star took to Instagram shortly after the incident to show her appreciation and thanks.

"Thank you God for watching over us and keeping us safe," wrote Kim alongside a photo of snow-capped mountains.

The Kardashian-Jenner clan had been enjoying a family ski holiday in Montana and were driving to the airport when the accident occurred.

According to TMZ, Khloé was behind the wheel of a black Yukon GMC when a semi-truck drove by her car, spraying snow onto her windshield and apparently obstructing her view.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star then swerved onto black ice and ended up careering into a ditch, after dangerously crossing the path of incoming traffic.

The family's publicist confirmed that the group were fine and unharmed, while police also revealed that no damage had been done to the car and no citations were issued. Accidents such as these are common at this time of the year given the icy conditions on the road, they added.

Captain Mark Wilfore, who was speaking to E! News, said: "This was not a crash. It's called a slide-off. It happened because the roads were pretty slick and there were poor driving conditions. There was no damage to their vehicle or any other property. There were no injuries and no citations issued."

Kim Kardashian was also celebrating her best friend Jonathan Cheban's birthday

The Kardashian-Jenner group were joined on the slopes by their close friend Jonathan Cheban, who was celebrating his birthday on the same day of the accident, and Kourtney Kardashian and her partner Scott Disick.

Kourtney was not involved in the incident but also took to Instagram to post an aerial view of the mountains, captioning it: "God is good."

Shortly before the accident Kim had shared a photo of her ski holiday coming to an end, and wrote alongside it: "#BlizzardIsComing #Done #LastRun." Kanye West's wife had also commented on Twitter that her best friend Jonathan was her "emergency contact".

The accident comes two weeks after Kylie's dad Bruce Jenner was involved in a fatal car pile-up near his home in California, which left one woman dead.
