Susan Sarandon's long-term boyfriend Jonathan Bricklin has denied reports that they were split. The couple were rumoured to have parted ways after Susan struggled with being a part of her boyfriend's reality TV show, however Jonathan has said the actress "supported" his decision to take part.

"Susan and I have a lot of respect and great admiration for each other. It's impossible to concisely characterise our relationship, other than to say that it continues to evolve in new and unexpected ways," he told People.

"She supported my decision to be a part of AOL's Connected, and making this series about my life has brought up real and somewhat unexplored issues, but it didn't break us up."

The Thelma & Louise star features with Jonathan in Morgan Spurlock's new AOL series Connected, which follows the lives of six New Yorkers and their partners over a period of six months.

The couples are given their own camcorders, with the first episode airing at the end of March.

It was previously said that the programme "caused a lot of strain" on the couple's relationship, with a source telling Page Six: "It's documented for the show that Susan breaks up with him because she doesn't want to be involved with the show. She says, 'You're a cast member, I'm not.'"

The couple were last seen together in February

Susan, 68, first met her 37-year-old entrepreneur boyfriend when she was on a road trip to Chile in early 2010. The actress has previously opened up about her relationship, and how the 31-year-old age gap doesn't bother her.

"It's the soul of a person that interests me," Susan told HELLO! magazine last October. "When you are in love, the question of age, sex, colour no longer holds any importance."

The timeless beauty also revealed that she and Jonathan, who is the co-founder of ping-pong and entertainment venue SPiN, have not moved in together. "We don't live under the same roof," she said. "We're not an ordinary couple."

Susan, who has three children from two previous relationships, married her fellow college student Chris Sarandon in 1967. They divorced 12 years later but Susan kept her ex-husband's surname as her stage name.

Susan's other long-term relationship before Jonathan was with actor Tim Robbins, her partner of 23 years.
