One Direction aren't wasting any time in moving on with their fifth album. The band, now a foursome following Zayn Malik's shocking departure on Wednesday, have revealed that they have already met with their management to get a schedule in place for making new music.

"Had a sit down last night with the label, started organising our writing sessions for the next album!" Niall Horan tweeted on Sunday.

Niall Horan's announcement calmed fans fears that One Direction would split for good

Their busy production schedule doesn't seem to be slowing down now that only four members remain - the next album will be the band's fifth in five years.

Since finding fame on The X Factor in 2010, One Direction have released an album every November - Up All Night in 2011, Take Me Home the following year, Midnight Memories in 2013, and their most recent effort Four in last year - and each offering became a worldwide smash hit.

Recognising their fans' recent comments regarding Zayn's decision to leave the band, Niall's bandmate Liam Payne expressed his gratitude.

"I can see a lot of people thanking us for staying but you're the real Heros here thanks for not thinking it's finished," he sent on Sunday following their most recent show in Asia.

His message of support to One Direction fans came after he admitted it was "ok to be sad and upset" over Zayn's decision.

In a long tweet sent on Thursday, Liam discussed the band's five years together and concluded: "When we very 1st became successful we all agreed that one direction had become much bigger than each individual member...

"That's why I feel like right now it's ok to be sad and upset but I do ask everyone who is a fan of us to please keep ur faith in us I'm sure there's a lot more to come all love, Liam."
