Simon Cowell has previously joked that he and his son Eric have similar tastes but it appears their likenesses don't stop there. Cheryl Fernandez-Versini shared a sweet snap of the father-son duo on Thursday which shows baby Eric dressed just like his music mogul dad.

The amusing image shows Simon sat in a golf buggy with Eric sat on his lap clutching the steering wheel. The X Factor star is seen in his trademark white t-shirt and light wash jeans, while 17-month-old Eric is dressed in almost identical jeans and a white shirt.

"Simon and his mini me," Cheryl captioned the image, which received almost 50,000 likes from fans, many of whom commented on how cute Eric is.

It seems that Simon is keen for Eric to emulate his style, and previously shared a photo of them in similar outfits in May – the only difference being that Eric wore a t-shirt, while Simon wore a shirt.

"No Eric. I said White shirt not t shirt," Simon joked on Twitter.

The snap comes just days after Simon quipped that Eric spends so much time with his pet dogs Squiddly and Diddly that he's worried that his first word may come out as a bark.

"I have no idea what he is going to talk like," Simon told the Daily Star. "His mum is American, I am English and a lot of the girls in my house are from the Philippines."

He added: "He spends most of his time with Squiddly and Diddly. He is going to end up barking."

Simon and his American girlfriend Lauren Silverman welcomed their son on Valentine's Day 2014. The 55-year-old even confessed that he feared he would love his pooches more than his own son, before baby Eric was born.

"I actually said to Lauren beforehand, 'What if I like the dogs more than him?'" Simon previously told Extra. "And she said, 'You're gonna be absolutely fine,' and then literally within seconds of him being born, I got it! I was born to be a dad."
