2016 is shaping up to be an incredible year for Coldplay. The band, fronted by Chris Martin, are set to make history after announcing they will become the first act to headline Glastonbury festival for a record fourth time.
The news was revealed on the band's Twitter account on Tuesday morning, as the band teased their return to the pyramid stage by sharing a picture of it being constructed at Worthy Farm.

Coldplay will be the only band to headline the iconic festival four times, having previously been given the honour in 2002, 2005 and 2011.
While no other headline acts have been confirmed yet, it is speculated that Foo Fighters will top the bill after having to cancel their headline performance in 2015 when Dave Grohl injured himself onstage. ELO have also been confirmed to play the teatime slot on Sunday afternoon.

Coldplay's exciting news comes hot on the heels of their performance at the Super Bowl 50 half-time show. The band impressed the crowd with a medley of some of their greatest hits, and their most recent album A Head Full of Dreams has since soared to the top of the charts as a result – meaning they have now topped the UK charts with every album they have released.
The group were also joined onstage by Bruno Mars and Beyoncé Knowles, who stole the show with a performance of her new single Formation alongside a posse of female backing dancers.
Chris had explained that Coldplay's headlining set would represent the past, present and future, and joked about how they would fit in all their hits in just 12 minutes. "We decided to play all our no. 1s and then work out how to fill the other 10 minutes," he said at a press conference ahead of the game.
