Surprise! Gary Barlow leaves fans stunned with 'masked' gig at shopping centre

Gary Barlow surprised fans this weekend when he stopped by a Bristol shopping centre to play an impromptu gig. The Take That singer started off wearing a mask – of his own face – but it wasn't long before shoppers worked out the truth.

Former X Factor judge Gary, 45, began playing TT hit Could It Be Magic, before whipping off the mask to excited cheers from the growing crowd. As Gary sang away the crowd of shocked shoppers grew – resulting in a queue of people waiting to get a snap with him.

Facebook user Gavyn Emery shared a video of Gary's performance

According to BBC Radio Bristol, Gary was at Cabot Circus on a "marketing trail", and Facebook user Gavyn Emery shared the moment online in a video which has since gone viral.

It seems Gary has developed quite a habit for dropping by unannounced. Last year the Back for Good hit maker launched a competition on Twitter to give three fans the chance to have him sing at their weddings – but went on to 'crash' many more.

Last year Gary Barlow 'crashed' the weddings of six fans

He ended up performing at six weddings all over the country, with the last taking place in Oxfordshire. Bride Natalie Purkis later told the Manchester Evening News: "Gary turned up at about 9.30pm and walked into the reception unannounced singing Rule the World."

Gary later tweeted: "Well that completes my wedding appearances for 2015! Thank you to everyone who invited me to their special day!"

We wonder where he'll pop up next…
