The world is in shock following the horrifying terror attack in central London on Wednesday 22 March, where at least 20 were injured after a car mowed down pedestrians on Westminster Bridge. A policeman was later stabbed outside the Houses of Parliament. At least four have been confirmed dead, ITV news have reported. Celebrities across the globe have taken to social media to pay their respects to the victims and heroic police officers involved. Good Morning Britain presenter, Susanna Reid said: “My heart totally goes out to those hurt & affected by this awful event at Westminster. Dreadful. Upsetting. And in the aftermath of this attack, our extraordinary emergency services doing incredibly brave & difficult work. Full-strength to the medical staff who'll be at full stretch at St Thomas' Hospital A&E dept which is next to Westminster Bridge.”

This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield tweeted: “Watching the news and sending so much love to anyone caught up in this atrocity #London,” while Holly Willoughby said: “Just in such shock at what happened today... ‪#Westminster.” Actress Carrie Fletcher commented: “Thank you for all the "stay safe" messages. Sending all my love and thoughts to those involved in Westminster. <3,” while TV host Ellen DeGeneres simply said: “Sending my love to everyone in London.” Richard Branson added: “All our thoughts are with the victims and all those affected by the #Westminster attack. Stay safe and look after each other.” Over on Instagram, Catherine Zeta-Jones posted a poignant photograph of Big Ben, captioned: "Big Ben stands strong today, as does the strength and character of the British people. Sending my thoughts and prayers."

Meanwhile, Westminster Abbey have offered shelter for MPs in the aftermath of the attack, tweeting: “Westminster Abbey is happy to offer a place of safety to MPs, Peers and their staff.” 10 Downing Street also issued a statement via the Press Association, writing: “The thoughts of the PM and the Government are with those killed and injured in this appalling incident, and with their families. The PM is being kept updated and will shortly chair COBR.”
