Paul McCartney wedding: No more lonely nights for the superstar musician

Sir Paul McCartney looked as excited and thrilled as if it was his first crack at marriage when he tied the knot with his American beauty Nancy Shevell.Nancy, a businesswoman from New York  who looks considerably younger than her 51 years was radiant in a knee-length ivory gown, adorned with a row of tiny buttons on the bodice, designed by his fashion designer daughter Stella.She wore a white flower in her hair and carried a small posy of flowers that matched the groom's buttonhole. Macca, 69, wore a navy suit with a skinny blue tie.

They arrived hand-in-hand for the service, skipping up the steps of The Old Marylebone Town Hall the same venue in London, where he married his late wife Linda. With them was Beatrice, his seven-year-old girl with ex-wife Heather Mills, who was the sole bridesmaid.Some 30 guests were thought to be present, among them his five children. The Beatle is also father to adopted daughter Heather, Linda’s daughter from a previous relationship, photographer Mary and musician James.

Also at the intimate affair was her 19-year-old son, Arlen and his former bandmate Ringo Starr, who arrived in a black suit, T-shirt and trainers with his wife, actress Barbara Bach.

Seventies icon Twiggy was among the guests. "I'm going to go in and give him a big kiss," she said on the way in. "We're just very happy. We love them both to bits." Fans bearing balloons and banners had gathered outside the registry office where they became man and wife in a simple  ceremony, which cost £1,540 and lasted an hour and 10 minutes.Life-long Beatles fan Chiara Amato said she had sat outside the registry office every day since September 29 in anticipation. She said: "This marriage is going to last. She seems to be really nice and deeply in love with him. "I have been listening to The Beatles since I was six-years-old. I have been to see Sir Paul in concert 27 times." In contrast to his 1969 nuptials with Linda, which were hastily arranged the day before, Sir Paul and the new Lady McCartney announced their engagement a few months ago and posted notice of their intention to wed in September.

Sunday's reception was due to took place at the address in St John's Wood where he has lived for over 45 years. After being driven through the gates, the newlyweds, who had been fairly restrained in their celebrations up until then, began jumping up and down in delight.Guests wishing them well were expected to include film director Sam Taylor-Wood, her partner Aaron Johnson, Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmour and his wife Polly Samson. Armfuls of delicate blush-coloured roses and white hydrangeas for the festivities had been delivered the day before. A marquee was erected in the garden and bottles of bubbly had been left to chill.
