Could another biopic be on the horizon? Meryl Streep and Hillary Clinton bond at gala

She won an Oscar for her portrayal of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady - could Meryl Streep have her eye on a role playing another leading lady from the world of politics? Meryl was spotted bonding with Hillary Clinton at the State Department Dinner for the Kennedy Center Honors gala. The two ladies were certainly having a giggle about something as they posed for snaps together on Meryl's phone.

The elegant duo – Hillary glam in a floor length green gown and sparkling diamond choker, and Meryl equally lovely in a white gown and statement earrings – were among a roll call of big names at the Washington dinner. Actor Dustin Hoffman and talk show host David Letterman were among the guests being recognised at the star-studded event. Other 2012 honorees included members of the band Led Zeppelin and Blues icon Buddy Guy. Joining the group was also Hillary's husband, former US President Bill Clinton – who looked to be getting on well with musician Buddy and the members of Led Zeppelin – and current US leader Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. Jack Black – accompanied by his wife Tanya Hayden – was among the stars paying tribute to the honorees, who had been presented with medals and rainbow sashes at a White House ceremony just hours earlier.

The actor spoke specifically to Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page, calling Led Zeppelin as "the greatest rock and roll band of all time" and noted his completion of the "rock & roll haj" – listening to all nine Zeppelin albums back-to-back. Jack went on to describe how he was given a mix tape of the band's songs in high school and the combination and power and beauty moved him and changed his life forever, as did the wide-ranging lyrics about "love, Vikings, Vikings making love and The Lord of the Rings."
