Hollywood's leading ladies go back to black at the Producers Guild Awards

Ahead of the imminent Screen Actors Guild Awards it was the turn of the Producers Guild of America to draw some of Hollywood's biggest stars. A-listers such as Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Jennifer Garner and Jessica Alba graced the red carpet at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.Each sporting stunning black gowns, Nicole, Naomi, Jessica and Jennifer proved the classic shade can be far from ordinary. Sin City actress Jessica looked particularly striking in a lace gown by Lebanese designer Elie Saab. Her choice of pink lipstick, turquoise nails and purple clutch bag, by Roger Vivier, added variation to the glittering black outfit.

Having left their two daughters at home Jessica was joined by her other half, husband Cash Warren, whose father is Hill Street Blues actor Michael Warren. The pair married in LA in May 2008 and had their first child, Honor Marie, in the same year followed by Haven Garner in 2011. Naomi and Nicole, who posed together holding hands, wore dresses similar in style with a mixture of opaque and sheer sections. The Australian beauties each wore their blonde hair in sleek styles, 45-year-old Nicole's in a half-ponytail and 44-year-old Naomi's swept to one side over the left shoulder. The pair have been close friends since their teenage years.Jennifer Garner was out shopping support for her husband Ben Affleck, whose latest movie Argo is up for title of Best Film at next month's Academy Awards. Whilst Jennifer looked gorgeous in her ruffled, sleeveless dress, onlookers were particularly taken by one aspect of her husband's appearance.

As he smiled for the cameras Ben revealed a touching message written by one of his children on the back of his hand. Ben, who is father to Violet, Seraphina and Samuel, displayed the affectionate note which read "I heart Papa. Love the heart. "Whilst their blockbuster Les Miserables failed to pick up an award during the ceremony the film's co-stars Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne were out in full force.Anne and Amanda added a splash of colour to proceedings with the former choosing a bright floral dress and Amanda wearing a knee length orange dress and black heels.

Homeland actor Damian Lewis also attended the LA event and was seen smiling and laughing in his wife's company. Helen McCrory, well known for her role as Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, looked thrilled when her husband's show bagged the award for Best TV Drama.London-born Damian could triumph again on Sunday night as he is nominated for the same title at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Also tipped to do well at the awards are stars of The Silver Linings Playbook Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and Damian's co-star Clare Danes.Leading Britain's hopes for award glory are Helen Mirren, the cast of Downton Abbey and Daniel Day Lewis. Daniel's role in American Civil War biopic Lincoln earned him a Golden Globe earned him the title of Best Actor in a Drama at the Golden Globes earlier this month.
