Andrea Riseborough rises to the top as she takes home best actress award at the Evening Standard Film Awards

Andrea Riseborough rose to the top on Monday night as she took home the best actress prize at the Evening Standard Film Awards.The glamorous brunette won the award for her role as Colette McVeigh in the film Shadow Dancer. In the film she portrays an active member of the IRA who becomes an informant for MI5 in order to protect her son's welfare.

The 31-year-old actress wowed in a stunning white Jenny Packham dress which featured a sheer panel at the front and sequinned cape at the back. The star completed her look with her hair swept to one side, a silver clutch bag and an emerald Faberge ring.

Joining Andrea was Homeland actor Damian Lewis and his wife Helen McCrory, who was supporting her film Skyfall.

The mother-of-two looked glamorous in a black satin sleeveless top and a maxi skirt, which she complemented with a pale pink Kate Spade clutch while Damian, 41, looked his dapper self in an elegant blue suit matched with a green tie. Skyfall was a double winner, taking the Film of The Year and the People's Choice Award for Blockbuster Of The Year.Comedy actor Sacha Baron Cohen - whose outrageous characters have included Borat, Bruno and Ali G - took an honorary title, the editor's award, to celebrate his "extraordinary achievement".

Oscar nominee Daniel Day-Lewis missed out on the best actor award, despite huge acclaim for his lead role in Lincoln.Instead the prize went to Toby Jones for the independent art house film Berberian Sound Studio, which sees him play a British sound designer in the homage to 1970s Italian horror.Malcolm Campbell took home best screenplay for What Richard Did. The drama, based on the novel Bad Day In Blackrock by Kevin Power, tells the story of 18-year-old Richard Karlsen, whose life is changed forever after a senseless act of violence.The Peter Sellers award for comedy went to deranged road movie Sightseers, directed by Ben Wheatley. The black comedy had jointly led the nominations with gang drama My Brother The Devil, with each having been put forward in three categories.
