Kim Kardashian stays strong despite criticism over maternity fashion and weight gain

As Kim Kardashian enters the third trimester of her pregnancy, it is clear that the reality TV star is enjoying her special time despite criticism about her choice of maternity outfits and weight gain. The reality TV star is still wearing a smile and is relying on her support network of family, friends and fellow mums. On Friday, the Keeping Up with The Kardashians star wrote a telling tweet suggesting that she wouldn't let her critics get her down. "You've got to just do what's right for you, even if it doesn't make sense to someone else!" she shared with over 17.5m followers.

Amid the criticism, there have also been rumours that she is expecting a girl with her rapper boyfriend Kanye West in July. As she attended a lunch party at LA's Cecconi's restaurant with sister Kourtney Kardashian on Saturday, she was pictured carrying a pink-themed baby hamper. However, it quickly became clear that the hamper was for fellow mum-to-be whose name was written on the envelope inside the hamper. The expectant mum, who is due in July, has been pictured wearing a series of alternative maternity outfits including tight leather dresses and towering stiletto heels in recent weeks. As she visited church on Sunday with her mother Kris Jenner she opted for a more relaxed look, dressing her bump in a billowing salmon pink dress.

It was a family occasion and she was seen putting her maternal skills into practice as she carried her nephew, Kourtney's son Mason Dash, down the sunny LA street. The mum-to-be recently revealed on her blog that she got inspiration for her maternity outfits from Kourtney. "I've been turning to her for styling advice and tips since her effortless preggo fashion has served as inspiration for me," she wrote. "It's nice to have someone who knows a thing or two about dressing up your baby bump!" Younger sister Khloe Kardashian has given Kim's maternity style the sisterly seal of approval. "I love that she's showing and she's you know, that's like how she gets to dress up the bump and have fun with it," she said. "So everyone be nice to her! She's pregnant!"

It's not just the famously tight-knit Kardashian sisters who have offered their support. Gwyneth Paltrow, who is mum to eight-year-old Apple and Moses, 6, spoke out in support of Kim "It's a difficult time, and I think Kim Kardashian looks absolutely beautiful," she said at the opening of celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson's new fitness studio. The gym guru herself has reportedly told Kim to "relax, enjoy it, gain the weight" on the promise that she can get her "back better than ever".

Actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum, who is also due to become a first-time mum this summer, tweeted her support for Kim. "Let's all be kind to every woman out there who is expecting," the Step Up star wrote. "It shouldn't be about how much weight someone has gained, their fashion etc. It's a beautiful amazing moment in time and not about vanity!" Jenna's supportive tweet follows an open letter written by model Helena Christensen in response to cruel jibes about Kim's weight. "It is disgusting and despicable the way that certain media constantly harass the pregnant Kim Kardashian," the 44-year-old Danish model wrote. "It's enough that they persistently project a negative focus on women's physical shapes; but a public bullying and attacking of a pregnant woman because of her growing shape is just lower than low." Kim, whose divorce from Kris Humphries is underway, tweeted a photo of herself with her baby bump proudly on show over the weekend. The double Instagram image showed her in front of a mirror wearing black leggings and a white t-shirt covering her bump in the first shot. In the second frame she lifted her top to show her blossoming baby bump. The caption "baby love" with a heart symbol accompanied the personal picture.
