Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones reportedly giving reconciliation a try

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas' temporary separation may be close to ending, with reports that the Hollywood couple are living together again in an attempt to patch up their marriage.According to sources Zorro beauty Catherine agreed to the move after her husband convinced her their romance was worth saving.

"It’s not just for the sake of the children.""When they're good, they're amazing together, so they're hammering out their issues at their home. It's good news and Catherine is on top of the world. "Catherine stepped out solo at the weekend at the New York Dance Alliance Foundation Gala. Though Michael was missing from her side, the Welsh beauty was wearing her wedding ring.This is the first year in over ten years the pair have celebrated their joint 25 September birthday – Michael turned 69 while his wife turned 44 – apart. They have been in regular contact, however, while they work through their "issues".

Michael and Catherine's "trial separation" was announced in August. The actor recently attended the 2013 Emmy Awards without his wife of 13 years by his side, but that didn't stop him from making a tribute to Catherine in her absence.

As he stood on stage to accept the Emmy for the best actor in a movie or miniseries for Behind the Candelabra, the Oscar-winning actor said: "I want to thank my wife Catherine for her support. "On the red carpet, he spoke openly of his hopes to reunite with the actress – mother of his children Dylan, 13, and ten-year-old Carys. "I'm very hopeful that we're going to work things out," he said. "As I said we're just taking a break, a couple of issues, sometimes you got to do that."
