Carole Middleton on elegant form at fundraising gala

After winning praise for her elegant appearance at Prince George's christening, Carole Middleton put in another polished appearance at a charity dinner in London.

Kate Middleton's mum looked pretty in a floor length, midnight black-hued gown which she accesorised with a gold necklace and earrings and a black clutch. The short sleeves and v neckline showed off her healthy looking tan.

Her hair meanwhile, had been swept back into a half up'do, and a soft fringe brushed her forehead.

Carole and her husband Michael were attending The British Red Cross International Fundraising Committee Ambassadors' Gala, which was held at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel.

They were pictured at the dinner with Brideshead Revisited actor Anthony Andrews and his wife Georgina Simpson.

Carole and Michael have been in the news this week after it came to light their company Party Pieces made a donation to charity after being found to be in breech of environmental regulations.

The business gave £12,650 to the Woodland Trust, earlier this year in a "civil sanction" agreed with the Environment Agency.

The donation was made after it was found the husband-and-wife team's company had breached Packaging Waste Regulations which apply to organisations with annual sales of £2million or more.

Party Pieces said in an emailled statement: "In 2012 it came to our attention that due to a misunderstanding we were breaching one of the guidelines. Party Pieces corrected this error immediately and is now fully compliant with the packaging waste regulations.

"Former British Airways cabin crew members Michael and Carole started Party Pieces – a mail order company selling supplies for parties - over a decade ago. It started as a small venture in their garden shed, but grew into a multi-million pound business and the couple are apparently thinking of expanding into America.
