Beyoncé performs XO for the very first time at the BRIT awards

Beyoncé stole the show at Wednesday night's BRIT Awards when she took to the stage to perform her new song XO.

Donning a shimmering floor-length sequined green dress, Beyoncé looked absolutely flawless. The 32-year-old songstress wore her hair loose in cascading blonde waves, and completed her outfit with stunning diamond earrings and rings.Always one to deliver an empowering performance, Beyoncé left the audience mesmerised as she sang XO for the first time during a televised performance.The Houston-born star stood alone on stage in front of three white screens that accentuated her womanly curves. She belted out the lyrics in true Beyoncé style, seeming completely lost in her own dazzling performance. "Thank you," she graciously said at the end of her song, beaming out at the cheering audience.

Host for the evening James Corden confirmed that Beyoncé would be making an appearance at the BRITS ceremony on the day of the event. Other musicians to take to the O2 arena stage included New Zealand-born Lorde, who scooped the International Female Solo Artist award, and Katy Perry, who sung her hit track Dark Horse.Click here for the full list of winners.In a performance that contrasted Beyoncé's, Katy made a dramatic appearance on stage dressed in a tasselled neon Cleopatra-style outfit. The singer, who lost out to Lorde in the same category, gave a speculator show complete with Sphinx statues, glowing helmets and a decorated chariot.

Taking home the award for British Female Solo Artist, Ellie Goulding also appeared on stage to perform two hit tracks, I Need Your Love and Burn. Ellie, who arrived at the BRITS in a pink princess gown, opted for a white revealing number to perform.The 27-year-old started her set covered up in a sheer veil to sing an acoustic version of I Need Your Love, then stripped down to a gold bikini top and white hot pants to belt out Burn

Rapper Pharrell Williams was another star who had the audience jumping up and dancing from their seats as he performed his number 1 hit Happy. The singer rocked the stage in his trademark top hat and trendy ripped jeans and camel blazer ensemble.
