The pizza man who made his debut on the Oscars stage at Hollywood's Dolby theatre on Sunday evening got paid his tip in full by Ellen DeGeneres on her show on Monday.Edgar Martiroysan, who co-owns Big Mama's & Papa's Pizzeria in Hollywood with his brother, appeared live on Oscars host Ellen DeGeneres' TV show in the US to talk about his experience of the Academy Awards – and was handed a $1000 tip for the pleasure.

"I ended up getting about $600," said Ellen, referring to the tips she'd collected using the hat of Pharrell Williams, a nominee for the Oscar for best song.

She handed Edgar a wad of cash, before adding another few hundred. "And here's a $1000." The Pizzeria co-owner proudly held up his winnings as the audience cheered.

The night before, Edgar unknowingly found himself delivering pizza to Hollywood's biggest stars, including the likes of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep, after an anonymous order came in for takeaway 24 hours prior to the Oscars.

Ellen then led him on stage, where he stood before a room full of the world's most famous celebrities and millions of home viewers.

Edgar, who thought he was delivering the pizza to writers and producers, arrived at the Los Angeles theatre only to be met by the host herself.

"I was shocked. I didn't know it was going to be something [like] this. It was really crazy," Edgar said on

The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

He revealed that Julia Roberts is one of his favourite stars: "She was my like woman in dreams. I was always watching her movies back in Moscow," he said. "So it was something crazy to me to deliver [her pizza]."
