One Direction are keen to carry with work as normal following the release of a video showing Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson joking about marijuana while smoking a rolled up cigarette.

The five-piece band continued with their tour of the UK on Wednesday night, hours after the video was leaked, delighting fans with a gig in Sunderland.Documenting their evening on Twitter and Instagram, the boys posted numerous photos and messages for their fans.

"Sunderland are you ready?" tweeted Niall Horan. "Just sticking my jacket on! It's lashin rain!"The 20-year-old Irish star then posted a picture of Harry Styles as the group prepared to take to the stage in the north eastern city.

"Dressin room shenanigans! With @harrystyles," he captioned the picture.

Niall and fellow One Direction member Liam Payne were clearly thrilled by the successful gig and posted their thanks to fans on what was undoubtedly a difficult day for the group."Finally gettin to bed! Sunderland thank you very much! That show was amazing! One of my favourite grounds in England! Much love," wrote Niall, while Liam tweeted: "Great gig Sunderland my clothes are soaked god damn rain!!!! We still had fun right?"

But while Niall, Liam and Harry have been avidly using their social media accounts since the video came to light, Zayn and Louis have remained silent and have yet to comment on its revelations.

Despite media reports that some members of One Direction have been angered by the compromising video of Zayn and Louis smoking, the quintet have rallied together for their stadium tour.

On Friday, the boys are due in Manchester for three consecutive days of concerts before they head to Edinburgh and then back to London to perform until 8 June.Niall, Harry, Louis, Liam and Zayn are then set to play at venues across Europe before embarking on a 39-gig tour of the USA in the summer.
