TV chef Si King recovering after "life or death" brain aneurysm

TV chef Si King is recovering from a "critical" brain aneurysm. Si, who is famous as one half of cooking duo the Hairy Bikers, disclosed that he suffered the brain injury earlier this year after days of severe headaches. "There have been no lasting effects - none that you'd notice other than I am slightly madder than I was before," the 46-year-old told the Daily Mirror. "No deficit as they say. I just started getting a severe headache. Over a four-day period it got worse and worse and worse. I thought, 'Oh my god I am in trouble here'. So I went and had a procedure.

"Now I go for check-ups," he added. "It is a continual treatment and I will need some more. It was a life-or-death thing. It was critical when I went into hospital but now it's not. It's good they have fixed it." Si added that he isn't ready to re-join his co-star Dave Myers on their TV show just yet. "I'm not back working yet," he said. "I want to keep myself right. The last thing I want to do is fall over on a shoot. I want to make sure I am 100 per cent fit. And I'm getting there."

Adding of Dave, who starred in the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing, Si said that he has been a positive influence during his recovery. "He's great - we are like two brothers. He just wants me to get better so we can get back on the road."
