Kim Kardashian: the Beverly Hills Hotel boycott is 'hurting the wrong people'

Kim Kardashian has opened up in a personal blog post explaining why she intends to continue frequenting the swanky Beverly Hills Hotel despite a boycott by celebrities including Ellen DeGeneres, Russell Crowe, Rose McGowan and Anna Wintour. The reality TV queen is a long-standing fan of the famous California hotel, and had initially planned to hold her bridal shower there earlier this year – until she learned of the extremely harsh anti-gay laws recently enforced by its owner, the Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah, in his home country.

Kim wrote that she and her best friend Allison were planning to take their little ones there for lunch due to the hotel's no-paparazzi policy until Kim remembered that her bridal shower was moved from the glamorous establishment "due to the actions of the Sultan of Brunei". Kim made her stance on the Islamic anti-gay laws clear, but explained that she has realised that the boycott is "hurting" the wrong people: "Allison shared with me her view on the situation and we 100% agree that the actions and law enforcements of the Sultan are completely against everything we believe in.

"However, I started to realize that maybe boycotting the hotel isn't the best solution either.

Kim Kardashian believes the hotel boycott is affecting the wrong people

"For a sultan that has 20 billion dollars, this loss of business doesn't even make a dent in his fortunes. But the hotel staff are being negatively affected every day with the boycott that has gone on for weeks now…" continued the star. Kim, 33, referred to the hotel as a "safe haven" when she was pregnant with baby North and called it "a piece of LA's history as well as many of our own personal memories".

The newlywed reitterated her support of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, before expressing her hope to find "another solution". "The unjust treatment and violation of rights of the LGBT community around the world is never justified and I will continue to proudly support the LGBT community in every way imaginable. "I hope we can come together and stand up for our beliefs while still making sure good people aren't wrongfully hurt in the process. "Boycotting the hotel won't affect the sultan, just our dear friends who work there," she concluded.
