|It's a long way from Corrie to Hollywood, but the Street's former mechanic Matthew Marsden is now figuring out the inner workings of the Tinseltown scene. Like fellow heart-throb, Orlando Bloom, Matthew got his start in Black Hawk Down and went on to play the role of the legendary hero Paris in a film re-telling of Helen Of Troy.
Since leaving Coronation Street in 1998, Matthew – who also starred in Emmerdale and enjoyed a singing career in the late Nineties – has been making steady progress in film. Having landed roles in Shiner with Michael Caine and the sequel to Anaconda, he's starring in Tamara, a supernatural thriller by Final Destination screenwriter Jeffrey Reddick set for 2005 release. And if his film career doesn't work out, the actor, who had two top 30 singles in the late Nineties – including a collaboration with Destiny's Child – can always fall back on music.
