With a roll-call of Hollywood's hunkiest actors calling on the world's top designers to create their tuxedos, it takes something extra special for a leading man to stand-out on Oscar night. Pirates Of The Caribbean star Johnny Depp easily outshone the other contenders on the red carpet in 2005, however, with his blue, shawl-lapel number and two-tone gangster-style brogues. Indeed the chisel-jawed actor managed to clock up five times as many votes as his nearest challenger in's "best-dressed man" poll.

Living in the French capital with long-time partner Vanessa Paradis seems to have had quite an effect on the performer, as he has become well-known for his unique sense of style. A retro-style blue suit and brown cap-cum-beret were the order of the day when he stepped out for the UK premiere of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, though his brown fedora, which has accompanied him on several public outings, is clearly a favourite, too.
