Quintessentially English desserts: strawberry trifle, scones, crumbles and tarts

One thing the English do well are desserts. Delicate trifles, perfect plum crumbles, pop-in-the-mouth mini scones are simply the icing on the cake. 

What about a warm apple tart with a dollop of ice-cream, perfect for one? If that doesn't tantalise your tastebuds, then a traditional Victoria sponge cake most certainly will.
