Roberto Cavalli brings Hollywood glamour to Milan Fashion Week

In typically glamorous style, Roberto Cavalli brought the silver screen to the catwalk at Milan Fashion Week.

Titled The Projection of a Dream, the Italian fashion house paid homage to the cinema with a film-set setting complete with spotlights and giant cameras to showcase their latest offerings. "Welcome to my movie set!" a sunglasses-clad Roberto announced at the start of the show.

In true Cavalli style, the flapper dresses came with added sex appeal – the beaded dresses features cut-out panels and low backs, while the chiffon was snakeskin and thigh-length.

A monochromatic colour palette dominated, with whites, blacks and shimmering silvers.

The models were dressed as film stars in a dazzling array of 1920s-style flapper dresses and fur stoles thrown over their shoulders. They walked the catwalk to a soundtrack of classic MGM music.

Denim, bandage dresses, black leather and rock-tour-inspired tshirts with dripping chain mail sleeves made up most of the typically sexy collection.

Meanwhile, over at Versace, creative director Donatella put her own spin on rock chick with a heavy-metal-meets-glamour presentation.

Roberto gave a nod to his core customer – the wealthy, jet-setting woman – with a floor-length beaded kaftan and the new Bombshell aviator sunglasses.

Speaking backstage, Donatella said she was inspired by a picture of herself in the nineties with "legend" Guns N'Roses singer Axel Rose. She described the new Versace woman as "a rock chick – very glamorous because that’s how I like to dress".
