In recent years a series of high-profile roles has placed British actor Bill Nighy firmly on the Hollywood movie map. And this week the Love Actually actor was hobnobbing with one of its most legendary figures - Lauren Bacall.
Eighty-two-year-old Lauren, elegant in a black jacket and jewelled brooch, was clearly getting along famously with the UK star as she paused hand-in-hand with him on the red carpet before both attended the premiere of Bill's latest flick Notes On A Scandal. Earlier this month the actress was also on hand to support him in his Broadway play The Vertical Hour.
The actress, who was part of the iconic 1940s Rat Pack, says she maintains her energy by continuing to make films. "I am still working. I've never stopped and, while my health holds out, I won't stop," reveals the star, who appeared with Nicole Kidman in Dogville, and has just finished filming The Walker with Woody Harrelson and Kristin Scott Thomas.
In Notes On A Scandal Bill stars as Cate Blanchett's husband, in a tale of a London teacher who gets romantically involved with her student. Both Cate and her co-star Judi Dench received Golden Globe nods for the film, which is being tipped for Oscar success.
