You vote 007 star Daniel the most convincing action man of 2008

While last year's cine offerings were packed with big screen tough guys, there was one in particular who had licence to thrill according to hellomagazine.com readers.

Daniel Craig delivered the best hard-man act to top our most convincing screen action man online poll with 27 per cent of the final vote.

Thousands of votes were cast and every one counted in what turned out to be a closely fought competition. It was neck and neck between Quantum Of Solace star Daniel and Shia LaBeouf, with the star of Eagle Eye finally placing second after garnering a quarter of the votes.

The race for third place was tight, too. Only 20 votes separated UK actor Christian Bale's turn as superhero Batman in The Dark Knight from Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr, who placed fourth. Other Brits near the top included James McAvoy, in fifth place, and The Mummy star Brendan Fraser in sixth.

Newcomer Ben Barnes, whose first major role was last year's The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian, came in a very creditable seventh - a position he presumably hopes to better as his career takes off. However, the London-born actor's role as a crusading warrior was more popular than characters played by established stars Mark Wahlberg, Will Smith and Harrison Ford, who came in at eighth, ninth and tenth respectively.

Finding less favour in the action ranking were Leonardo DiCaprio and Sylvester Stallone, both of whom tailed the field.
