Liam Neeson and pal Ralph join famous theatre fans for 'Mary Stuart'

One month after the theatres in Broadway dimmed their lights in honour of his late wife Natasha Richardson Liam Neeson returned to the legendary strip to attend the opening night of a new play.

The Taken actor and his friend Ralph Fiennes who will star as Hades in the remake of Clash Of The Titans opposite Liam's Zeus were among the theatre fans taking the first look at Mary Stuart as it opened in New York.

Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick, both of whom have experience on the stage, and director of London's Old Vic Kevin Spacey were also in the Big Apple for Sunday evening's premiere of the historical play, which stars respected British actresses Janet McTeer and Harriet Walter.

The niece of Christopher Lee, Harriet portrays Elizabeth I to Janet's Mary Queen of Scots in the tale of one of the most famous sibling relationships in English history. Based on the life of Mary, the play tells the story of the English queen's decision to execute her Scottish cousin.

Both actresses, who received rave reviews following their New York debut, appeared in the original production of the play when it opened in London in 2005. It subsequently transferred to the West End for a sold-out run.
