Jim Carrey brings 'Christmas' to Cannes at snowy screening

The festive season descended early on the French Riviera this week as snow fell on Jim Carrey and his partner Jenny McCarthy at the Cannes launch of the Ontario-born funnyman's new film A Christmas Carol.

Part of the famous Croisette had been turned into a winter wonderland – complete with Christmas trees and giant baubles – for the arrival of the animated film's cast, which also features Colin Firth and American Golden Globe nominee Robin Wright Penn.

The 'voices' made a grand entrance in a horse-drawn carriage before greeting fans and, in Jim's case, trying to start a snowball fight at the entrance to the venue.

Jim lends his voice not only to Ebenezer Scrooge in the retelling of the classic Dickens tale, he also plays the three Christmas ghosts who visit his character to get him to change his miserly ways.

The film, which opens in cinemas worldwide in November, also features the vocal talents of Brit actor Bob Hoskins and Dark Knight star Gary Oldman.
