Dustin Hoffman describes himself and his Last Chance Harvey co-star Emma Thompson as being "creatively married", and the affection between the pair was clear to see as they attended the flick's London premiere.
Despite the disparity in their heights - it's less evident on screen, but the English actress towers over her American leading man - there was a lot of red carpet cuddling going on at Wednesday's screening of the transatlantic romance.
Emma wasn't the only lady to find herself the focus of the 71-year-old's affections. The actor's lawyer wife Lisa was on the receiving end of a big kiss, while the couple's youngest child, daughter Alexandra, 21, also came in for a share of the hugs from her famous dad.
The Rain Man star had good reason to be in high spirits at the London event. One of the big attractions in signing up for the flick was the chance to film in the British capital, he says.
"It’s a favourite place of mine," he said. "I've been going there (London) since my honeymoon with my first wife in 1969."
"Theatre used to cost about two dollars, but then I guess you guys started to copy Broadway," he joked.
Last Chance Harvey is the story of a disgruntled American jingle writer who, after finding his role usurped at his daughter's London wedding, bumps into Emma's character in a Heathrow bar. It's an encounter which will prove life changing.
The film goes on general release in the UK on June 5.
