Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge were quietly checked out of the East Ohio hospital with their parents on Thursday, three days after they were welcomed into the world. According to witnesses the family left the facility with a police escort at around 11am.
During their stay in the hospital with the twins and surrogate, 44-year-old Sarah and Matthew, 47, were given plenty of privacy, even from hospital workers. Security on the second floor – where the group was located - was particularly strict, with fellow patients asked to keep all their doors shut.
"Even the nurses are trying to get a glimpse (of the twins)", said one visitor to the hospital. "The nurses are trying to get a peek, but even they can't."
Marion and Tabitha will join their New York-based family at their West Village home, where the two little girls have a big brother waiting, Sarah and Matthew's six-year-old son James Wilkie.
Friends of the couple have already spoken out to express their happiness and comment on what a great job they will make of raising the babies, who arrived earlier than their mid-summer due date.
Actress pal Kristen Johnston, best known for her role in 3rd Rock From The Sun, said: "Sarah Jessica and Matthew are great parents. James Wilkie is the funniest, smartest kid… so any additions would be lucky, lucky kids."
Her sentiments were echoed by Sex And The City costumier Patricia Field. "Kids born to SJ and Matthew … are already miles ahead of the norm. They have so much opportunity," she said.
