She fits the bill: Dr Who's new assistant makes an impression in police uniform

by It seems the producers of Dr Who are keen to make the most of 5ft 11in Karen Gillan's impossibly long legs.

As the Scottish actress got to work shooting new scenes for the BBC sci-fi series this week, the wardrobe department had put the 21-year-old in a police uniform with a skirt slightly shorter than the usual regulation issue.

Not to say that put Karen at a disadvantage when it came to filming action shots with the new Time Lord - played by Matt Smith.

The pair were spotted racing through the streets of Cardiff this week, where the new series is being filmed.

Dr Who bosses have kept the plotlines of the new series firmly under wraps, and little is known about Karen's character Amy Pond.

Whether she is a policewoman or simply wearing a disguise for one of her adventures with the Doctor remains to be seen.

Fans will have to wait until next spring, when the 13-part series hits screens, to find out.

Karen, a little-known actress from Inverness, was announced as the Time Lord's new companion in May, winning the coveted role amid rumoured competition from ex-EastEnder Michelle Ryan and model Kelly Brook.
