Robert Downey Jr cements his status as top actor with Hollywood honour

by Iron Man, Tropic Thunder, The Soloist, Sherlock Holmes – all blockbuster films with one man in common, Robert Downey Jr.

Recently the talented US actor has been enjoying a career comeback that has put him back at the top of his game, and strengthened his reputation as a Hollywood heavyweight.

It was entirely fitting then that he was immortalised on the streets of Tinsletown this week.

Robert's hand and footprints were set in concrete outside the world famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre, taking their place alongside those belonging to Judy Garland, John Wayne and Cary Grant.

The two very proud ladies in his life, mother Elsie and wife Susan Levin, were there to cheer him on.

And fun was had by all at the event, at which the funny 44-year-old star hammed it up for photographers.

Speaking after the ceremony, delighted Robert said it had been an incredible experience.

"I remember when I was a kid and we lived up the street, I used to walk down here…and I'd look at all these names," he recalled.
