Hollywood mourns the loss of '8 Mile' actress Brittany Murphy

Co-stars and family members alike are reeling from the shock death of Brittany Murphy, who has died aged 32. 

The actress, who starred in 8 Mile and Sin City collapsed at home and was pronounced dead at hospital. Leading the tributes was Brittany's former boyfriend Ashton Kutcher, who wrote on Twitter: "See you on the other side kid... 2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine." He added: "My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany's family, her husband, and her amazing mother Sharon." Her co-star from high school comedy Clueless, Alicia Silverstone, told US publication People: "I loved working with Brittany. She was so talented, so warm, and so sweet. "I always felt connected to her as we shared a very special experience in our lives together. "I feel love in my heart for her - and hope she is at peace. This is truly sad."

Lindsay Lohan said: "My deepest condolences go out to all of Brittany Murphy's loved ones & may she rest in peace. She was a great talent with a beautiful soul. xo" Brittany reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at the home she shares with her British screenwriter husband Simon Monjack. 

She was found unconscious by her mother, who raised the alarm. Paramedics battled to save the star, but she was pronounced dead at 10.04 on Sunday at a hospital near Beverly Hills. 

Brittany was born in Atlanta, grew up in New Jersey and moved to Los Angeles with her mother to pursue acting. Parts in Clueless and 8 Mile, alongside rapper Eminem, propelled her to fame. Her last big screen role will be in Sylvester Stallone's project, The Expendables, which will hit cinemas next year.
