Emma Watson stepped out in Cannes to promote her latest silver screen venture, The Bling Ring. In a matching burgundy top and skirt by Christopher Kane, Emma joined her co-stars Katie Chang, Taissa Fariga, Israel Broussard and Claire Julien for a photocall against the picturesque waterfront. Emma, 23, completed her stylish look with a pair of black suede heels and wore her brunette hair in elegant up-do. Keeping her look chic and simple, Emma chose not to wear any jewelry and keep created a natural look with her minimal makeup. Earlier in the day Emma protected herself from the miserable weather with a beige trenchcoat as she strolled the festival's glamorous venues promoting the new movie.

The Bling Ring sees Emma play Nicki, a young girl who is member of a group of fame obsessed teenagers who burgle the homes of several celebrities, a far cry from her role as Hermione in Harry Potter that cemented her acting career. 'It wasn't like I needed to go out there and try to find the furthest part from Hermione so I could get away from her," said Emma in an earlier interview about the part. "That seems like a negative place to jump off from; trying to get away from something rather than trying to get towards something. "What I'm trying to get towards is that I want to be a character actress," she continued. "I want to play parts. I want to play roles that transform me. Nicki seemed like an opportunity to do that."

The film's writer and director, Sofia Coppola, joined her cast for the photocall. Dressed in a monochrome outfit, Sofia, who at 32 became the youngest woman nominated for the Best Director Oscar, helped promote the American crime drama. Sofia, who also produced the film with her brother Roman Coppola and Youre Henley, chose a chic shirt and trousers combination for the occasion, acessorised with black strappy heels and pink lipstick and nail polish. Sofia's screenplay is based on the real-life events of The Bling Ring, who were also known as the Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch or the Hollwood Hills Burglars. The gang was comprised of a group of teenagers who stole from the homes of stars including Lindsay Lohan, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr and OC actress, Rachel Bilson. Hotel chain heiress Paris Hilton, who playsherself in the film, was the group's first target and her house was robbed of cash and designer clothes at least five times between 2008 and 2009.

Emma Watson was among one of the first to arrive for the glitzy Cannes Film Festival that kicked off on Wednesday. Julianne Moore, Lana del Rey, Great Gatsby star Carey Mulligan and directors Baz Luhrmann and Steven Spielberg also began the list of stars who touched down in Nice for the prestigious event. The annual festival turns the city into Tinseltown with the elite of the film world whirling into the French Riviera. The Bling Ring will reach US cinemas on 13 June.
