The Apprentice 2013: Kurt Wilson and Natalie Panayi sent packing in double firing

Not one but two candidates were given the boot by Lord Sugar in episode seven of The Apprentice in a shock double firing. Kurt Wilson and Natalie Panayi became the seventh and eighth casualties of the boardroom after their team Endeavour produced disastrous results in a caravan and accessories sales task. Their team pulled in a pitiful £1,479 at the Motorhome and Caravan exhibition while opponents Evolve, led to victory by Neil Clough, took £33,615.

As project manager of Endeavour, Kurt, 26, brought recruitment manager Natalie and Welsh company director Alex Mills, 22, back into the boardroom with him — and the latter was the only one to return to the house.

At the start of the episode, the two teams had to choose items to sell at the show and then approach the designers and convince them to let their team sell their products. Endeavour were immediately put on the back foot after losing out in both their bids to Evolve.

The two teams also picked out one 'high-end' product to sell, with Evolve managing to sell three collapsible campers for £30,499. Endeavour chose a retro camp van, but failed to sell any.

Kurt admitted beforehand, in words that came back to haunt him, "It's more of a gamble, but if we sell one of them for £17,000, I think we'll win the task. "In the boardroom, he held his hands up to his mistake. "Kurt, I admire your honesty," Lord Sugar said. "You know, that you do admit that it was the wrong product and you admit that you got it wrong… But Kurt, you messed up on this task. Ok, Kurt, you're fired."

The 29-year-old looked terrified as he returned to face the millionaire, only to be congratulated on his efforts. "I hope to keep impressing you," he said, before bowing and leaving the room.

The business mogul then turned his attention to 30-year-old Natalie, back in the boardroom for the third time. "Natalie, it's possible that Kurt might have been tactical in bringing you back in here, but on the other hand, you've had a hell of a lot of chances in this process. And you haven't proved yourself to me at all. Natalie, you're fired. "One contestant who won himself a new legion of fans in episode seven was Jason Leech. The likeable property entrepreneur came up trumps in the task, helping Evolve cruise to a landslide victory. And Lord Sugar felt compelled to call him back into the boardroom just moments after his team had been declared winners.
