Then the song cuts as the camera pans to baking experts Paul and Mary as they get their tasting forks ready to dig into the masterpiece for the first taste. "This is delicious", says Paul, showing that, for now at least, one contestant has come up trumps.
"Cake - it's what makes us great" appears across the screen to end the trailer.
What has become one of the most popular programmes on TV will once again see the nation’s bakers putting their skills to the test on a weekly basis in the hope of being crowned the winner of this year's competition.
With the baking disasters, tears, laughter, and wonderful cakes – including pithiviers, fondant fancies and chiffon cake – decorating the silver screen last series, who knows what the next one holds in store.
