TV presenter Matthew snapped at Olympic champion Rebecca when he claimed she was interfering with his dinner-making process.
Reminding Matthew that Westlife's Kian Egan, who was in charge of dinner, wanted to keep the fire low so that their food wouldn't burn, Rebecca's words of advice were just enough to push Matthew over the edge.
"I know what I'm doing, stop telling me what to do," said Matthew, pointing a finger at Rebecca.
"There's small logs so it burns through them quickly and becomes charcoal. It will be fine, it won't burn.
"I know what Kian wants but I can't do it when every decision I make you undermine."
Matthew was quick to make amends when he saw he had upset teary-eyed Rebecca, putting his arm around her and kissing her forehead. The Wright Stuff star tried to cheer her up by remarking that he still smelt of rotting fish.
"I'm 24 and I don't like to be yelled at," Rebecca later told The Bush Telegraph. "I don't know how to handle it and I don't like it. I felt bad and got a bit teary eyed. I know not to say anything now and keep my mouth shut.
"Matthew is the type of person that is so outspoken he's very much willing to share his opinions and give you advice and he's not offended when you don't listen which is great."
Matthew later showed his support for Rebecca and stopped her from doing the washing up yet again, suggesting that model Amy Willerton and professional dancer Vincent Simone should do their turn.
Also in the episode, Rebecca is exempt from competing in a Bush Tucker Trial for a second time on the show, due to an unknown medical issue. Viewers quickly took to Twitter to vent their frustration at the swimmer's exclusion.
"So basically, Rebecca Adlington OBE, Olympic Gold Medalist can't do any bushtucker trial on "medical reasons" so why is she there? #imaceleb," wrote one user.
"@ITV We are told Rebecca Adlington is claustrophobic so what the hell is she doing in the jungle #cantplaythegame," posted another.
