Robert and Eddie took to the stage together to crack jokes and deliver one of the cheques to a charity, and both looked dapper in their sharp suits, with My Week With Marilyn star Eddie wearing a pocket handkerchief.
Twilight star Robert, whose new film The Rover is out today in the UK, looked smart in a black suit with a grey marled tie.
He recently sat down with The Guardian where he revealed that Twilight was the hardest job he'd ever had.
Robert Pattinson and Eddie Redmayne joke on stage at the HFPA dinner
"I think Twilight’s probably the hardest part I’ve done," he said.
"Because to do it for five movies, it’s really hard to think of stuff that’s maybe not boring. Especially if you don’t die. Because what’s the drama? You’re not scared of anything! And that’s the whole essence of drama: life and death."
The 28-year-old, who has also starred in Cosmopolis and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, also admitted that he'd love to shock audiences on the stage.
The Rover is out in cinemas today
"Something in a really small theatre. I don’t think I could do something on Broadway... I’d quite like to do something kind of shocking."
In The Rover, which he filmed in the Australian outback, Robert takes a supporting role for the first time since Twilight ended.
"There’s something about Rey, and there’s something about not having to drive the story forward," he explained.
"You can just be the condiment. It’s really kind of freeing just being the sidekick weirdo."
