Milla Jovovich celebrates 39th birthday

Happy birthday, Milla Jovovich! As the action star celebrates turning 39, HELLO! Online takes a look at what the stars have in store for Milla, and you… This is what Milla, who is a Sagittarius, can be expecting today: Nobody knows how the miracle of the loaves and fishes was accomplished. But if that demonstration of amplification and abundance had involved ideas and opinions, we would all understand exactly what must have happened. Views, once expressed and articulated, immediately give rise to other views. Debates and discussions soon turn into a frenzy of explanation and justification. Less becomes more in an instant. Apply this technique to a hope, rather than to a fear today.

Born in Ukraine, Milla immigrated to London and then later the United States at the age of five, and her mother soon focused on creating an acting career for Milla.

At the age of 12 Milla began a modelling career, after famed photographer Herb Ritz noticed her during a shoot for head shots and recommended modelling. Before long she was on the cover of The Face and Italian magazine Lei, and in the following years Milla found herself on the covers of Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and working with brand Revlon. By 2002 she was the muse for Mui Mui.

Milla has previously spoken about how her mother "raised [her] to be a movie star", and despite a successful modelling career she continued to work on screen, with her big break coming in 1997.

The Fifth Element was a sci-fi action film that also starred Bruce Willis and was directed by Luc Besson. Milla and Luc fell in love on set, and they married at the end of the year before later divorcing in 1999.

The film was a huge box office success, and five years later in 2002 Milla found even bigger success with Resident Evil. Based on the video game of the same name, Milla went on to star in four sequels.

The 39-year-old is also a passionate musician, and has been performing since the early 1990s. She regularly contributes to the soundtracks for her films, and has also provided music for Underworld and The Rules of Attraction.

Milla is now married to director Paul W.S. Anderson and the pair have one child, seven-year-old Ever Gabo. The 39-year-old is now expecting her second child with Paul, and earlier this year revealed it would be another daughter for the pair.
