When Brad Pitt was in pre-production for war drama Fury, the cast sat down with WWII veterans, including a British D-Day veteran, who had never heard of the famous star of the movie. Now, HELLO! Online has an exclusive clip of Brad, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, and the rest of the cast meeting the veterans in a closed meeting.

"David [Ayer, the director] is ferocious about authenticity and set us up with several vets who are all in their 90s and had survived D-Day landing and Battle of the Bulge", reveals Brad, who plays a battle-weary sergeant called Wardaddy.

Co-star Logan, who plays an idealistic new assistant driver, adds: "We were really fortunate to meet with some really generous people that were open and sharing their stories, which were probably tough stories to tell."

George Smilanich, a WWII vet from the 2nd Armor Division reveals: "They wanted to get an idea of how it felt, while we were in the service, and what life was like within the tank crew."

The film premiered at the London Film Festival in 2014, and is set in the final months of World War Two, following Wardaddy and his crew in their tank, Fury, which often goes behind enemy lines for the Allies.

Filmed entirely in the British countryside, the crew also invited Peter Comfort, 90, who is the last survivor of the 13/18th Royal Hussars. He was signed up to the Sherman tanks at the age of 21.

The British veteran revealed back in September that although Brad "was very friendly and charming" he didn't know who the Hollywood actor was.

"I said to him 'Until last night I didn't have a clue who you were and then I googled you and you've been in quite a lot of films'. "They all rolled about laughing when I said that," he said after his trip to the Hertfordshire film set.

Fury is out on Digital HD on 16 February and DVD and Blu-Ray on 25 February.
