Olly Murs
Olly Murs has had an impressive rise to fame. The 31-year-old TV personality and singer first came to the public's attention in 2009 when he auditioned for the sixth season of The X Factor. After receiving praise from judges including Simon Cowell, Olly came second to winner Joe McElderry.
In the months following The X Factor, Olly signed a record deal with Syco Records and Epic Records, and his debut single Please Don't Let Me Go went straight to number one, beating Katy Perry's Teenage Dream.
It was a huge achievement for Olly, who had grown up in Essex dreaming of becoming a footballer. An injury had forced Olly to give up a football career, and he became a recruitment consultant.
Olly applied for The X Factor twice prior to 2009, but after travelling to Australia for three months in 2008 he decided to give the ITV show one more try.
Olly's debut album went straight into the UK charts at number two, but his following three albums, including 2014's Never Been Better all debuted at number one. With sold out tours and impressive chart positions, Olly has also made a name for himself on TV - returning to The X Factor in 2011 to host The Xtra Factor with Caroline Flack.
Across two years the pair proved their TV chemistry, and in 2015Simon Cowell confirmed that they would be taking over hosting duties for The X Factor during the upcoming season.
In a statement, Olly said at the time: "I love the show and it kick-started my career in music which has given me the opportunity to do what I love.
"I already have the best job in the world and it's about to get better - I can't wait to get started and be part of finding some amazing new talent!"
