Michelle Keegan looks ready for action in the first pictures of her on set of the BBC drama Our Girl. The 28-year-old has begun filming her role as Corporal Georgie Lane in the army drama series in South Africa, where she will be based for two months.

Wearing full camouflage army fatigues and clutching a gun, Michelle's costume is a far cry from the glamorous appearance fans are used to from the HELLO! Online blogger. The 28-year-old has been undergoing extensive training in preparation for the role, including tough boot camp workouts to ensure the scenes are as authentic as possible.

Writing in her popular weekly blog for HELLO! Online, Michelle revealed all about her preparations for the role, telling fans: "I have been learning so much about army life and I have been embracing it all. I've learnt how to hold and fire a gun which felt amazing – serious adrenaline rush, and by the way, they are really loud!

"I have also learned to pack a medical kit and how to extract a casualty to safety."

It's not all work and no play though; Michelle is taking the opportunity to relax and enjoy the South African sun during her downtime, and shared a cheeky photo of herself sunbathing on Instagram.

The actress is filming in South Africa for two months

"Days when you finish work early! #internationalwomensday #pineapplehead," she wrote alongside the sunny snap.

Michelle is spending two months away from her husband Mark Wright while filming the new drama, but speaking exclusively to HELLO! in a recent interview, she said they have become accustomed to spending time apart.

"We're sort of used to it," Michelle said. "When Mark worked on Take Me Out: The Gossip he would be in Tenerife for three weeks at a time then home again for a week before flying out."

However the loved-up duo will be keeping in touch via FaceTime and Mark will be going out to visit his wife.

"He's my best friend. I love that he's a gentleman. I'm feeling very lucky," the actress said. "There's nothing in my life that I would change. I have no regrets. I'm very happy with my work and personal life."
