Celine Dion has announced that she will be performing a brand new original song for the live-action adaptation of Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

The Canadian singer, who originally performed a pop cover of the hit song Beauty and the Beast for the 1991 animation, revealed the exciting news on Instagram. Sharing a photo of Emma Watson and Dan Stevens in their roles as Belle and the Beast, she wrote: "I am thrilled to announce that I'll be performing an all-new original song, 'How Does a Moment Last Forever,' for Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast. Being a part of the original film was such a magical experience in my life, and I'm truly honoured to be a part of this film again."

The song was written by Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken, whose previous credits include The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, with lyrics from three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice. The tune has been described as an "emotional ballad" about holding onto the precious moments in life, and will be performed in portions throughout the film. The Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production President of Music Mitchell Leib spoke about Celine's involvement in the film. "Celine was the unanimous choice of the filmmakers and studio to perform this song," he said. "And everyone involved with the film is thrilled she agreed to be part of this new live-action adaptation."

The It's All Coming Back to Me Now singer will be joining John Legend and Ariana Grande, who have revealed that they will be performing the film's iconic duet, Beauty and the Beast. Producer Ron Fair spoke about having the pair perform an updated version of the song, telling Deadline: "Stepping into the shoes of an Oscar- and Grammy Award-winning classic is not small potatoes. But with today's two greatest singers – John Legend and Ariana Grande – we are bringing the song back with a new school/old school fresh treatment that shows the soulfulness and power of what a great melody and lyric can inspire."
